Donate to Midwife Advocacy
I have started production to make a movie that tells the public exactly who midwives are, what they do, and how they support families to thrive.
My birth journey happened way out of my comfort zone. I grew up in Massachusetts and found myself pregnant in Northern California, with a 25-year veteran midwife and another midwife that was trained in emergency birth in Denmark.
I should have felt nervous, but their undivided care, attention, and obvious expertise lead me to surrender to a process I didn’t know existed and am thankful for every day. I am sure this process changed my parenting style and grounded me in the strength I know my body has.
I want to open minds to the culture and benefits of a supported birth for mothers, fathers, and our community. Access to wildly experienced professionals in the Portland Metro Area will open hearts and create a bridge to parents who may want more from their birth experience all over the globe. Oregon has birthing centers that are run by long-time crusaders in the world of birth. The outspoken Ina May Gaskin was an educator and still advocates for the real stories that come from birthing families. Her book is so simple and her solutions are just plain obvious and non-reactionary, that it allows a space of freedom and drastically reduced stress. This environment encourages the birth process and gives a woman the opportunity to find out what she can do. What is bad about that?
Peace on Earth, Begins with Birth.
I would love your support in making this film move forward.
